The wall of purple flowers

On the drive home from school everyday we pass a neighborhood where there is a wall of glorious purple flowers.  And everyday Leilani and I point out of pretty it is.  Today I grabbed my camera and we went over to snap a few shots in front of the purple flower wall.

Fancy hair

Leilani had an audition this week and so we practiced with a new set of hot rollers to see what her hair would look like.  She never gets to wear it down so this was such a special treat for her.

This is right after she told me, "I look like a mermaid with this hair."
I can't get over how LONG her hair has gotten.  It's now below her waist.
Mwaaaahhh!

Spring is sprung

On the way out the door to ballet class, Leilani was so excited and came SCREAMING back in the house.  "Mama your Irises!  Your Irises!"  She knows how happy it makes me when they bloom once a year.  The coolest thing is that each year the number of flowers doubles.  The first year we moved into the house, there were only 2 flowers.  Now you can see how I'm cultivating my own little Iris Jungle.
She was killing me in her new superstar shades.

"Mama I would like my hair in a bun EVERY day."

Leilani has decided on a new favorite hairstyle and she requests it every day.  This was on the way to ballet class tonight. The flowers were her idea.  You know how she is with accessories!!
How can I possibly resist doing something that makes her THIS happy?!

Leilani's first flight.

Spring Break 2010 and the Flowers family headed to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for some much needed fun in the sun.  Leilani was so excited to go on her first plane ride.  We were a little nervous, but she traveled like an old pro!

She was so excited about her luggage.  We bought it a few weeks before the trip and she wouldn't let anyone else carry it in the airport.  Here she is strolling through LAX with her rolling bag.

When you're the child of teachers, everything is a learning experience.  And every learning experience involves a new book about it.  So while we waited to board our flight, Leilani and I read her new "Airport" book to learn all about what happens during air travel.
Watching the planes arrive.  Notice that she's holding Baby Jesus.  You know Leilani doesn't go anywhere without her!
I think the thing Leilani was most excited about was the fact that she got to chew gum for the very first time on the flight.  We were worried about her ears popping so we gave her gum to help with the pressure.  She was THRILLED!!

On the plane watching "Princess and the Frog" on her new Tadpole iPod system.  (One of the best purchases we've made so far.  It's very kid friendly with soft headphones that control the volume and a protective sleeve.  My iPod fits inside and even when she drops it on the floor, it's totally protected.  It's awesome!)

Puerto Vallarta

We flew down to Puerto Vallarta with Callie and met Grandy & Poppy there.  We did quite a bit of lounging and site seeing while we were there.

Leilani and Daddy built sand castles on the beach.
Leilani spent every day in the "swimming" in the pool. She is totally fearless when it comes to the water.  She grabbed a pool noodle and swam around the whole thing.  There were a few times that she slipped off and went all the way under the water.  But she came up laughing every time.
The bus stop was right across the street from our resort, Poppy and Daddy clowning around waiting for the bus.
The bus ride in Mexico is quite an adventure.  You hold on for dear life and pray that you arrive safely.  I guess you really can't expect much from a 7 cent bus ride!
This is in front of a massive tree downtown.  This is Michael's favorite tree.  Every year when he and I used to go to Puerto Vallarta, we would always take a picture in front of "Mike's Tree."  This year he was so excited to show it to Leilani.
Waiting to take the bus to Walmart with Grandy and Poppy
The Princess and the Frog
Enjoying the sunset from our balcony with Aunt Callie.
Callie and Michael took an ATV jungle tour and came back filthy and disheveled.  But they had a great time!
Some of our favorite statues along the Puerto Vallarta boardwalk.

Here she is doing her best supermodel impersonation.
In the cockpit on the flight home. She was a little bit shy with the pilots.  I think she was overwhelmed by the number of lights and buttons there were on the instrument panel.  When we got back to our seats, she said, "Mama.  That was CRAZY up there."
